Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott believes Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson regrets describing them as 'noisy neighbours'. The England international revealed that City's players felt disrespected by the Red Devils' boss following his comments, but he now thinks they have proven their point as they lead the Premier League 20 games into the current campaign.

Cameroon captain Samuel Eto'o has had his 15-match ban cut to eight months for his role in a players' strike in November. The Cameroon Football Federation disciplinary committee reduced the sanctions on Friday, meaning the former African Player of the Year will miss just four official matches.

Arsene Wenger said no one can take away Thierry Henry's achievements at Arsenal even if his second spell is unsuccessful. The Gunners manager also said the striker, who has rejoined Arsenal on a two-month loan deal from the New York Red Bulls, is still a world-class talent - and he is delighted to have signed a player of his quality at this stage of the season.

Bayern Munich chairman Uli Hoeness has admitted that his side are eager to sign a new striker and central defender in the transfer window. The Bavarian giants were long-term admirers of Borussia Moenchengladbach attacking midfielder Marco Reus, but saw the starlet sign a deal with Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund this week.

The agent of Napoli star Marek Hamsik has added fuel to speculations that his client is looking to leave the Azzurri for a bigger club. The Serie A giants are negotiating contract extension with the Slovakian and club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is adamant Hamsik will sign a new deal.

The agent of PSV midfielder Kevin Strootman is adamant that his client will not be leaving the club before the end of the season. The 21-year-old only joined the Dutch giants in the summer, but has already been linked with a number of high-profile clubs.

Bayern Munich and Liverpool are just some of the clubs that have reportedly expressed interest in the Holland international, but, according to his agent, the player is not looking to move clubs.

Manchester United and Wayne Rooney have issued a joint statement denying reports the England striker is set to leave the club. The Independent is set to release a front-page story on Saturday which claims United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to let Rooney leave the club, although full details of the contents of the report are not yet known.

Rooney moved to deny the story on Twitter, posting: "The Independent are talking absolute rubbish. My future is with Manchester United - the club and I are totally committed to each other".

Liverpool ran rampant against League One side Oldham Athletic, beating them 5-1 in the third round of the FA Cup on Friday. Goals from five different players( Bellamy, Gerrard, Shelvey, Carroll, Downing) saw the hosts through to the next round of the competition, as Paul Dickov’s outfit had to deal with cup disappointment after they took the lead.

Manchester United will be looking to move on after back-to-back defeats when they play Manchester City in the FA Cup on Sunday. Holders City will be without the Toure brothers, Yaya and Kolo, as they join the Ivory Coast team in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Mohun Bagan won 2-0 in the most prestigious match in CFL against their arch rivals East Bengal, thanks to goals from Odafe Okolie and Manish Bharghav. in the 22nd minute, Odafa hurled a powerful left footed shot from the edge of the box. The ball went straight to East Bengal custodian Sandip Nandy but he made quite a mess of it as the ball hit his hand and slipped past him into the net.

Six minutes later, Mohun Bagan got a corner and Brazilian winger Adrian Lima provided a perfect cross from the corner and the ball was firmly met by the talented under-19 player Manish Bharghav and his powerful header went right past Nandy who did not even have a chance to react. ........ Pune FC confirms the signing of experienced defender NS Manju until the end of the ongoing 2011-12 season. The 24-year-old Manju (Nanjangud Shivananju) comes into the Pune FC fold as an on-loan player from United Sikkim FC. The Mysore-born player thus becomes the second on-loan player the club signed this season after keeper Abhra Mondal was drafted into the team earlier.

Manju, initially, was on Pune FC radar at the start of the season before both team and player finally agreed. The soft-spoken player boasts of the versatility of playing in any position in the backline. In fact, he began in the right full back position and has constantly played in the other positions as well.

The defender brings along vast experience of playing the elite league in five previous seasons after beginning his elite professional career at Mahindra United in the 2004-2005 season where he spent three seasons, then moved to Mohun Bagan for the next three years subsequently, before joining USFC.

On his signing, Manju says, "I am happy to join Pune FC for here I see a club wanting to be different and make a change in Indian football." Manju who completed formalities recently thus becomes a registered Pune FC player as of 20th December, 2011.

Apart from club football Manju has the experience of earning several Indian caps at both junior and senior level respectively. His performance in the 2005-2006 season, includes the honor of landing a grand double (Federation Cup and League - NFL), earned him an Indian berth fpo the tour of Pakistan and subsequently figured in the 2006 Asian Games.

Among the list of achievements, Manju has the 2007 Nehru Cup honours, three trophies with Bagan apart from being part of the probables shortlisted for the National side for the Asian Cup 2011, however the trip to Qatar remained a dream as Manju got injured during the preparatory tour to Barcelona, Spain. Chirag Tanna, Pune FC Head Operations, added, "Manju's experience will help strengthen our defence. We are glad to have him in our midst and Pune FC wishes him all the very best."

Indian National Team players who landed in the Capital..

There was a bit of gloom in the morning weather. The overnight rain had left its mark and the fog added to the chill. At the Heritage School Campus in Gurgaon, the Barcelona Camp organised by Conscient Football, it was different.

Indian National Team players who landed in the Capital for the Audi Football Summit - the Exhibition Match against Bayern Munich, lit up the proceedings. They had an interactive session with the 180 odd kids and then played with them. The football seemed to be fun yet an unique opportunity for the kids to look upto and learn from their idols from close.

The energy of the five-man army - Climax Lawrence, Gourmangi Singh, Clifford Miranda, Jeje Lalpekhlua was infectious. Even as the queue for autographs seemed to have no end, they smilingly obliged all. The duo of Jeje and Sabeeth, both of whom have been together for the U-23 Olympic Qualifiers, just couldn't wait to get on the field against the Bayern Munich side.

"This is a life-time opportunity for us," Jeje said. "International Scheduling in Football doesn't permit one to get on the same field against such renowned clubs. But here we are playing against Bayern Munich," Jeje who turned 20 on Saturday, expressed. "All of them are International Stars. The entire footballing fraternity will be keeping a close eye on the match," he added.

"We speak of Exposure Tours every alternate minute. Can any Tour get bigger than this?" Sabeeth, putting on his boots, quipped. "I'm lucky to be in the squad for this match. It's for us to learn, the more the better for us," Sabeeth joined in.

The duo hasn't yet played together with Bhaichung Bhutia and that it makes all the more significant for them. "Bhaichung has been the most deadly Indian striker I have seen," Sabeeth quipped. "His commitment and his reflexes are a lesson for any young player."

Jeje added: "It's fortunate that I get to play with Bhaichung. It's unfortunate that I won't ever get a chance to play with him again. He is such a great player. "Bhaichung was such an aggressive striker. He always had the ability to put the rival defence under pressure," Sabeeth maintained.

Gourmangi Singh, a former AIFF Player-of-the-Year feels it's an honour for him to be playing in Bhaichung's farewell match. "I have always looked upto him. To be a part of his Farewell Match is indeed an honour for me," he opined. The Indian team will be having their first practice session at the Ambedkar Stadium on Sunday.
