The match started with Mohun Bagan enjoying an early welcome into the Chirag box as Muritala Ali found the net in 2mins only for the linesman to spoil the celebration party by ruling out the goal for an offside. Chirag United also started to get in the tune of the match as they started to attack courtesy Josimar crafting a good amount of space but Mohun Bagan set the offside trap very well preventing him to scare them more in 9mins.

Shilton Paul got his first taste of action saving a free kick from Lalkamal Bhowmick in 14mins stopping the midfielder to score against his former employers. The match started to take the rough side out of the players as fouls started to dominate the match.The first to go in the book was Bapi Saha of Chirag for a rash tackle and Mohun Bagan got a free kick in 20mins but shot from Chidi Edeh went direct into the hands of the Chirag keeper Abhijit Mondal.

Similar chance came for Chirag in 21mins but Chika Walis’s shot went out.In 23 mins Bapi Saha again announced his presence in the game with a de javu provoking the referee to show the red card sending the player for an early shower. Chirag were demoted to ten men for the rest of the match but that only helped to pump up their spirits as Chirag started to control the possession of the game and their reward came in 29mins when Josimar was fouled inside the Mohun Bagan penalty box earning a penalty successfully converted by Sunil Chettri giving ten men Chirag a valuable lead.

Mohun Bagan shellshocked being behind started to attack with vigour as a Chidi shot was well saved by Abhijit in 36mins.The rest of the half was dull as Chirag hold on to their lead going into half time.The second half started with a stack of corners being earned by Mohun Bagan in 52mins each of those being blown away by the Barretto less attacking lineup of Mohun Bagan.

Chirag United were looking to double their lead as a shot from Josimar was well set up but missed the target by miles in 57mins.Eleventh corner was won by Mohun Bagan but the Chirag defence was stubborn to help it’s keeper keep his clean sheet in 63mins.Mohun Bagan almost found their equaliser when a free kick from Chidi Edeh missed the goal by an inch in 69mins and agonisingly for the Mariners the score remained the same.Mohun Bagan again knocked the door in 72mins when a six yard shot from Gourango Dutta hit the post and went out.

Finally salvation came in 79mins when Mohun Bagan finally found their way to break the Chirag defence when pass from Chidi Edeh was headed in the net by Muritala Ali levelling up the scores thus making the final ten minutes exciting.In 83mins with a turn of the tables Chidi Edeh was sent off and with the scores being level Mohun Bagan also demoted themselves to ten men.The final minutes were moments of desperation from both teams to get the goal and Mohun Bagan almost won the match only for the shot from Jayanta to hit the post and go out in the added times after 90mins.

Thus the match which could have been a platform for comeback concerning the two teams involved ended in a no mans land and the match will always be remembered for the red cards that stole the headlines rather than the goals.

The two football giants of Indian Football – East Bengal and Mohan Bagan is also celebrating with their members, supporters and well wishers. The bar Puja is the main objective of the day. The Bar (Goal Post) is worshipped for a successful year.

East Bengal today published their first monthly magazine and declared their captain for the year 2011-12. Abhra Mondal the goalkeeper will going to lead the Red and Gold Brigade in new season, while midfielder Mehtab Hossain will be his deputy. East Bengal also declared that they will going to start ESIC medical benefits to all their ground staffs very soon.

To celebrates the new yearsday ex-Footballers also came to the old club. Monoranjan Bhattacherjee, Atanu Bhattarcherjee, Sanjay Majhi, Debasish Mukherjee, Samaresh Chowdhury were also present in the club tent today morning.

On the other hand, another Giant Football club of Kolkata < Mohun Bagan also celebrated the Bengali New year's day with their members and supporters and ex=players at their Club Groun. Many senior members of the club gathered in the club lawn to celebrate the day. They also worshipped the Bar( Goal post of therir won ground and pray for a successful year in 2011-12.

Semi Final and Final will be held on 4th and 6th August respectively. The tournament is jointly sponsored by the CFA and the People's Government of Weifang municipality, and the match will be held at Shandong Luneng football school, Weifang Shandong province, China.

The organizing committee has received the confirmation of European giants Benfica, American giants Guadalajara Chivas, FC Chunna Dragons, FC Shandong and the Chinese national youth team, the winner of last year Tournament. In addition, famous teams from Spain, England, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Chile and other countries have also shown great interest in 5th "Weifang Cup V"

Weifang Cup is an annual youth tournament organized by Shandong Luneng Football School. Inaugurated in 2006, it is held annually in Weifang, a city in Shandong Province, where Shandong Luneng Football School is located.

Note that, the team of Shandong Luneng FC came to participate in the 115th historical IFA Shield this year at Kolkata.

In the Tournament, Eight teams divided into A and B two groups, and each 4 teams respectively play round robin system. The top two teams of group play cross, winner for the final game and loser teams play for the third and firth place of the competition. Other teams will play for 5th to 8th places.
