It has always been said that football is a game of great uncertainty
and the Copa America final 2007 at Venezueala between Brazil and
Argentina could be the perfect example to compliment the statement.
The tango party were completely outplayed by the yellow jersey as
Brazil lift the Copa America title for 8th time with an astonishing
score line of 3-0 in their favour. The onslaught started from the word
go and in the 4th minute as Baptista receiving a lob from the midfield
took the Argentinian defence by surprise and bursted the ball into the
second post with the goalie Aboudanzierri completely helpless.
To add to
the agony of the blue and white brigrade their captain Roberto Ayala
scored an own goal while attempting to clear a low cross from the
right flank Daniel Alvez to Robinho. The match which was destined to be
Robinho vs Messi but in reality it was Brazilian forward line vs
Argentinian defence.
Argentina tried to match their opponent with getting in Pablo Aimar but
in 71st min an inch perfect through from Love was greatly received by
Alves and finished in the far post by his left foot. That was game set
and match for Brazil. Argentina was the favourites to win in the final
but Brazil with literally their ‘B’ team shocked them. What can one do
about it, Football is a game of great uncertainty.
